Matt Hires And Paul Fletcher Team With Ronald McDonald House
LOCAL RADIO DJ’S SICK CHILD INSPIRES NEW CHARITABLE SINGLE RELEASE BY
NATIONAL HIT SONGWRITER & RECORDING ARTIST
Matt Hires and Paul Fletcher Hit the Streets to Create Music Video of Strangers Singing to Support Families at Ronald McDonald House Charities Of The Upper Midwest
Charitable record label, Rock the Cause Records, announces today the launch of a new single by singer and songwriter, Matt Hires. The inspiration for the song, “Hold You Up” and resulting music video is Minneapolis-based radio personality Paul Fletcher, whose family utilized the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Upper Midwest services while his infant daughter received medical care. One hundred percent of all net proceeds from “Hold You Up” will benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Upper Midwest.
Paul and his wife Spencer gave birth to their first child Elsie in October of 2012. A few days after Elsie came home, they noticed something was wrong. She was brought into Children’s Hospital of Minnesota and diagnosed with Hirschsprung’s Disease, a rare disorder with the intestine that creates challenges with the body’s ability to pass waste.
Over the course of several months, Elise underwent numerous surgeries. Facing exhaustion and fear, the couple found a place of rest, routine and community at the Ronald McDonald House of the Upper Midwest—a non-profit that provides a home away from home to keep families together during a child’s health crisis. Today, Elsie is going on her second birthday and has made a full recovery.
“After our experience, I felt inspired to share the story of the Ronald McDonald House and the families who have been touched by their beautiful work,” says Fletcher. “Being active in the Minneapolis radio scene, I knew I wanted this to be through music.”
Paul enlisted the help of friend, Matt Hires, who is known for his hit song, “Restless Heart.” Without hesitation, Matt visited the House and wrote “Hold You Up”, based on his experience and the stories he heard.
“It’s truly an emotionally charged anthem,” says John Stanoch. “Lyrically it’s a perfect illustration of the relationship between the House and the families who stay with us.”
From there, Matt and Paul hit the streets of Minneapolis, shared Elsie’s story along with the impact of the House and were able to get complete strangers to sing their support for families in need. The result is an uplifting video that highlights the good in humanity and showcases the power of community.
The song is available for download on iTunes and Google Play ($.99). The music video, conceived of and produced by Olson and filmed by Wayfarer Entertainment, is available for viewing on SoulPancake.com. One hundred percent of all net proceeds from “Hold You Up” will benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Upper Midwest, as administrated by Rock the Cause Records a registered 501(c)3 organization.
