Merv Griffin Box Coming November 4th

In the pantheon of great American talk-show hosts stands the charming and intelligent Merv Griffin, who became one of the most beloved TV personalities of his time, thanks to his long-running, 10-time Emmy-winning daily talk show. Now, in an unprecedented retrospective covering 24 years of star-studded entertainment and provocative in-depth interviews, MPI Home Video and Reelin’ in the Years Productions will release THE MERV GRIFFIN SHOW – 1962-1986 on November 4, 2014. The 12-disc collection, containing 44 classic episodes and more than 7 hours of bonus material, has been newly transferred from recently discovered master tapes, making for a spectacular viewing and listening experience.

Far East Movement treat fans to a freestyle video for their song collaboration with Sidney Samson “Bang It To The Curb” prior to their upcoming KTown Riot EP release on Cherrytree Records (October 28). The video directed by Jay Ahn of Transparent Agency stars Parisian hip-hop dancers Les Twins, who are internationally known for starring in Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour by Cirque du Soleil and are currently performing with Beyonce and Jay-Z’s On The Run Tour.

A Conversation with Yellowcard’s Ryan Key – HuffPost 9.26.14

Ryan Key: Well I guess the first thing to say is that it is not a pop punk record. I don’t want it to come across as if we have an agenda to turn our backs on the scene that got us where we are. We are so grateful to the pop punk community for everything it has given and continues to give Yellowcard. That said, I have always felt that “genrification” of art in any form is restrictive. When we started writing the songs for Lift a Sail, we knew that we are heading in a new direction creatively, and one we were very excited about. So we didn’t worry about a genre or a scene. We wrote from our hearts. We took a lot of chances on the record. I believe it is a collection of songs that have high stakes. I like to describe the record saying, it’s as if all of our favorite ’90s alternative bands and Coldplay had a love child and named it Lift a Sail.

Methyl Ethel’s “Rogues” Released

Born in the heat of the Australian summer, ‘Rogues’ is the first piece of stream of conscious pop to surface from Methyl Ethel’s forthcoming debut album. Both sweet and volatile like the ketone compound namesake of Jake Webb’s formless expanding musical alter ego, the song was recorded shortly after inception in the regional south-west over a 24 hour period in the doorless room of an old shopfront in Fremantle that he was living in at the time. In his words “the guitar hook just seemed to fit the song and my housemate at the time remarked how that was what he had also been hearing in his head. It was very, very hot in that house.”

Matthew Fowler Brings His Bring A Friend EP And Tour

Orlando-based singer/songwriter Matthew Fowler will hit the road this fall for a two-month long, 25+ city tour kicking off in Tallahassee at Hi Fi Jazz Cafe. At just 20 years old, Fowler is the perfect storm of all the essential singer-songwriter elements; a flawlessly raw yet organic voice, intricate melodies, compelling musicianship, alluring lyrics, and an overwhelmingly lush sound. In support of this tour, he recorded a special EP with fellow Orlandoan artist Reggie Williams who will be joining him on the tour as well.
