Toby Lightman’s Every Kind Of People Arriving October 27th
TOBY LIGHTMAN ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM
EVERY KIND OF PEOPLE OUT OCT 27
NEW TOUR DATES + NYC ROCKWOOD MUSIC HALL RESIDENCY
New York based singer-songwriter Toby Lightman is set to release her new album digitally, Every Kind of People out on Oct 27th produced by Curt Schneider (Lissie, Natasha Be Bedingfield). The 12-track album portrays Toby’s long time affair with living in a bustling city coupled with the highs and lows of the human condition.
Every Kind of People ranges from the rhythmic truth of the title track and single, “Every Kind of People” to the tumultuous fear of a broken heart in “Running from Love.” Toby channels the nostalgia of youth on “Whatever Happened,” and the illuminous humor of vulnerability on the upbeat “Hangin out to Dry.” Toby cries out from the devastation of a fight with a lover on “When You Ran” and spits sarcastic wit on the satirical “Brand Spankin New.” The album takes you into Toby’s world when she describes the moment she knew she found her now husband on “Bumps in the Road” and, continues on the journey to illustrate the meaning of love on the epic track “My Love and Me.”
“I spent years writing songs about my life and my own personal love and loss for this record, only to realize that my stories were also being played out in front of me on the street. From the girl that’s standing on the street crying, to the older man sleeping on the subway heading home from a long day of work. I feel all of them. We are all feeling the same things, I know we all are feeling the same things, and that’s what I tried to convey in these songs.”
To support the new release, Toby will embark on a east coast run of dates that will kick off on Oct 9th at the YMCA Boulton Center in Bay Shore, NY and will take her through the Rockwood Music Hall Residency in NY on Oct 16th and Nov. 20th in a intimate story-telling setting with the themes of “Night for Love” and “Night for Life.” Toby will continue performing songs from her new album in Philadelphia, Vienna, VA and concluding in Manhasset, NY on Dec. 12th. She will be back on the road at the top of the year beginning Jan 20th at the Workplay Theatre in Birmingham and will hit cities such as Atlanta, Charleston, Charlotte, N. Augusta, Greenville and Chapel Hill, with more dates to be announced for 2015.
Since her last album, Toby has been highly successful and prolific in writing and performing songs for film and television. Some current uses include music from her cataloge featured in the upcoming episodes of E! Network’s Total Divas, NBC’s About A Boy and Believe, MTV’s Scrubbing In, the feature film American Girl and a commercial sync for Petsmart. Toby also had five songs featured in a single episode of the Jennifer Lopez produced ABC Family series, The Fosters.
