Spirit Music Retains Jim Collins

SPIRIT MUSIC NASHVILLE RENEWS EXCLUSIVE AGREEMENT
WITH SONGWRITER JIM COLLINS

Spirit Music Nashville, formerly Cal IV Entertainment, has re-signed its exclusive agreement with award-winning songwriter Jim Collins. Announced by Spirit Music Group CEO David Renzer and Spirit Music Nashville President Daniel Hill, the exclusive agreement continues a partnership with Collins that began when he joined Cal IV Entertainment in 2006. Spirit Music Nashville originated from the recent acquisition of Cal IV Entertainment by Spirit Music Group, one of the world’s leading independent music publishing companies

“We are thrilled that Jim Collins has re-signed with Spirit Music Nashville,” said Hill. “We look forward to continuing to build upon his tremendous momentum not only in Nashville, but worldwide through the many global opportunities that our new Spirit partners are presenting.”

Collins’ hits in the Spirit Music Nashville catalog include songs with some of the biggest names in country music including Jason Aldean’s “Big Green Tractor,” Kenny Chesney’s “Everybody Wants To Go To Heaven,” and Thompson Square’s “Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not,” as well as Kenny Chesney’s seven week #1 hit “The Good Stuff,” George Strait’s “It Just Comes Natural,” Trace Adkins’ “Then They Do,” and Tim McGraw’s “How Bad Do You Want It.”

“We are so pleased that a writer of Jim’s caliber has decided to continue to put his faith in Spirit Music and in the wonderful team at Spirit Music Nashville,” said Spirit Music Group Chairman David Renzer.

Collins has been a successful and prolific songwriter since his move to Nashville from Houston, Texas in 1995. He immediately scored singles with Kenny Chesney (“She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy”), John Michael Montgomery (“Love Working On You”) and Ty Herndon (“Hands of a Working Man”). The hits continued with the multi week #1 “Yes,” recorded by Chad Brock, and Chesney’s seven week #1 “The Good Stuff.” In 2002, that song became Billboard’s Country Song of the Year, ASCAP Song of the Year and the Academy of Country Music Single of the Year. Collins’ song “Baby Be My Love Song” is the new single from Easton Corbin released through Mercury on August 25. In addition, Collins’ songwriting will be featured in upcoming releases from Reba and Dustin Lynch.
