Pale Hands’ Spiritual Lines Coming October 28th

ALL MUSIC PREMIERES DEBUT FULL-LENGTH FROM PALE HANDS

SPIRIT LINES OUT OCTOBER 28

Boston dream-pop duo Pale Hands release their debut full-length, Spirit Lines next week but All Music has the exclusive album premiere ahead of the October 28 release.

Spirit Lines features lush, buoyant vocals, layered over fluttering beats and augmented by bits of haunting synths and echo-laden guitars. Spiritually, it’s akin to Cocteau Twins, CHVRCHES or a David Lynch soundtrack, but markedly its own animal.

“Spirit Lines is our musical interpretation of magic realism and pop surrealism; we were inspired by the work of artists and writers such as Mark Ryden, Kelly Link, and Karen Russell,” says singer Jen Johnson.

Earlier this month, The Wild debuted “Under Over” with Katie Chow noting, “Singer Jen Johnson’s sincere delivery glides gently over crystalline synths, creating a comforting resting place for weary heads.” Pale Hands have been nominated as Best Electronic Act by the Boston Music Awards and METRO calls them out as one of the best new indie rock bands.

Pale Hands have a handful of tour dates starting next week with stops in Brooklyn, Philadelphia, DC and a pair of local shows in Boston. Live, the group is happy to explore the tumult and pop at its most exposed: just the two of them. “It’s less bombast than our prior work,” says multi-instrumentalist Mike Latulippe. “These songs are more spacious, and all about the details and the intricacies. And I love that it’s just the two of us up there – there’s nothing to hide behind.”

Pale Hand Tour Dates:
Oct 28 – Brooklyn, NY – The Rock Shop w. Novelette
Oct 29 – Philadelphia, PA – Kung Fu Necktie w. Seagulls and New God
Oct 31 – Boston, MA – Great Scott – Vanyaland Halloween Party
Nov 02 – Washington, DC – The Velvet Lounge w. Medlow
Nov 05 – Knoxville, TN – Preservation Pub
Nov 21 – Cambridge, MA – TT the Bears w. VÉRITÉ

“Spirit Lines is a quality antidote for chilly and dark autumn evenings…It has boldness, terrific production and songs that are filled with color and life. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED”
– PopDose

“Their music is rich in noirish synths and back alley rhythms and has its own inimitable heartbeat, a sterling chromatic vibration that’ll shake the breath from your lungs.”
– Nooga

“Johnson’s voice floats over synth-pop lines in a manner reminiscent of 80’s pop stars — specifically a cross between Pat Benatar and Cyndi Lauper — while carefully relaxed guitar riffs pair with slow, rhythmic drum lines to create a hauntingly simple yet complex sound.”
– Sensible Reason
