Tuesday, September 9 – KCRW.com is premiering the new single from Los Angeles-based indie/gypsy/rock/bigband collective Noah and the MegaFauna, “Fanfare”, in advance of the band’s appearance at the public radio station’s Halloween party Masquerade.

The song appears on the band’s sophomore album, “The Pale Blue Dot”, slated for release on October 21 on Artbelly Records. The band heads to NYC to perform songs from the album live on WNYC’s Soundcheck in early November.

“The Pale Blue Dot” is the follow up to 2012’s critically acclaimed “Anthems For A Stateless Nation”.

“The Pale Blue Dot” represents a departure from the big band, Mingus meets Tom Waits, vibe of their debut and finds the band flexing their indie orchestral rock chops.

Lit explains, “Our instrumentation is unique enough — acoustic gypsy style guitars, upright bass, horns and violin — that it gives me real freedom as a songwriter to take chances, knowing we’ll always end up sounding like us. This album is more rooted in George Harrison, Jack White and Elvis Costello than Django Reinhardt and Duke Ellington but still lives firmly in the strange MegaFauna world we’ve created.”
“The Pale Blue Dot” also has guest appearances by Sony Recording Artist, Kat Edmonson, Grammy-nominated pianist Gerald Clayton, and trumpeter Michael Maher, from the Grammy-winning band Snarky Puppy.
