Gone Girl Soundtrack Released

GONE GIRL, SOUNDTRACK FROM THE MOTION PICTURE,
IS OUT TODAY AND AVAILABLE AT ALL DIGITAL RETAILERS

DOUBLE VINYL AND 2-CD SET TO BE RELEASED LATER THIS FALL
BY COLUMBIA RECORDS

GONE GIRL, the soundtrack from the motion picture, was released digitally today by Columbia Records. The score was composed by Academy Award®-winning musicians Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross and marks the duo’s third collaboration with filmmaker David Fincher, whose 20th Century Fox film GONE GIRL hits theaters nationwide this Friday, October 3. Columbia Records will release the soundtrack physically later this fall. It will be available as a double album on 180-gram vinyl and as a two-CD set.

Rolling Stone hailed the GONE GIRL soundtrack as “haunting” and “sublimely uneasy.” NPR Music, which premiered the album in its entirety last week, praised the composers’ collaboration with Fincher as a “synthesis of cinema and sound that’s starting to prove as fruitful as those of Alfred Hitchcock and Bernard Herrmann, Sergio Leone and Ennio Morricone, or Akira Kurosawa and Toru Takemitsu” and went on to note, “Gone Girl again fits its story’s mood to perfection.”

The film, based on writer Gillian Flynn’s best selling 2012 novel of the same name, stars Academy Award®-winner Ben Affleck as Nick Dunne, a husband whose wife Amy’s disappearance (played by Rosamund Pike) becomes the focus of an intense media circus, and soon finds the spotlight turned on him as others suspect he may be responsible.

Reznor and Ross previously collaborated with Fincher on scores for the director’s feature films THE SOCIAL NETWORK (2010), for which they won an Academy Award® and a Golden Globe® in 2011, and THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO (2011), which earned them a GRAMMY®.
