The digital pre-order for GODSMACK’s sixth full-length album, 1000hp [Republic Records], is now live on iTunes. The record drops on August 5, but users who pre-order will receive “Generation Day” and the first single “1000hp” as an instant download starting today. “Generation Day,” which premiered yesterday, is a sprawling hard rock epic record that crosses the six-minute mark and hooks you upon first listen.

About the album’s release, singer and guitarist Sully Erna comments, “We made a conscious decision to go back to the streets of Boston for this album. It doesn’t just capture the spirit of the city. It’s GODSMACK.”

Erna also penned a piece for www.Grammy.com about “Generation Day” where he talks about the days of “vinyl,” listing to a physical record in its entirety from front to back, and the timeless journey of experiencing a record from the music to the packaging. The song itself discusses the digital age subsuming the music industry and how he and his band mates belong to one of the last generations who remember only being able to listen to music in this way. The song itself follows that narrative of the internet new age taking over, yet he encourages embracing the future while revering rock ‘n’ roll.

Last week ARTISTdirect.com ran a tribute to GODSMACK as the entertainment community weighed in on how Godsmack’s music has impacted their lives and the rock community has a whole. Heavy weight “a-listers” included none other than Academy Award-nominated actor and X-Men: Days of Future Past star Hugh Jackman as well as rock’s Shinedown, Seether, Staind and more. Check it out here!

Adding to their accolades, 1000hp has been nominated for Noisecreep’s August 2014 “album of the month”. The winner is fan-voted and will be announced on August 1. Fans may vote and show their support at this link.

Fans may also pre-order and purchase special bundle packages for 1000hp at Godsmack.com. Not only do you receive the CD or vinyl, but there are exclusive t-shirts, mechanic jackets, signed posters, signed drumheads, and more available as well.

In addition, more dates have been revealed for this summer’s Rockstar UPROAR Tour, which GODSMACK is headlining. Don’t miss them on the road!

GODSMACK set the pace for rock in 2014 with 1000hp.

To date, GODSMACK have notched a staggering six number one singles at mainstream rock radio, including “Awake”, “Straight Out of Line”, “Cryin’ Like A Bitch”, and “I Stand Alone”. Moreover, they’ve enjoyed 20 Top 10 hits at the format—the most of any act since February 1999 as well as four Grammy nominations, and winner of Billboard Music Awards Rock Artist of the Year in 2001. Selling over 20 million records worldwide, the band has also unleashed three consecutive albums at #1 on the Billboard Top 200—namely Faceless [2003], IV [2006], and The Oracle[2010]. This places them in league with Van Halen, U2, Metallica, Dave Matthews Band, and Linkin Park who have also enjoyed the same streak. Moreover, the accomplishment on the road remains staggering with headlining sets everywhere from Mayhem and UPROAR to Rock on the Range.
