Digitalism Plays El Rey, “Wolves” Finds Home At Radio

Digitalism Headlines Los Angeles’ El Rey on November 8th!

“Wolves ft. Youngblood Hawke” Finds Fans at Radio in the US

Digitalism – the German duo Jens “Jence” Moelle and Ismail “Isi” Tufekci – are gearing up for a three week live tour of North America as their current single “Wolves ft. Youngblood Hawke” has been finding its way onto the US airwaves. Already a mainstay on Sirius XM’s “Alt Nation,” the song has also found fans at several noteworthy alternative stations including KITS/Live 105 in SF and KNDD/The End in Seattle while the incredibly popular RAC remix of the track is a favorite on KCRW in LA’s “Metropolis” show.

Digitalism have been undergoing somewhat of a sound transformation since forming a decade ago. Their story began when the two met working at a record store in Hamburg in the early naughties. They bonded over their love of both dance and rock records and shortly after started to DJ together. This led to remixing (The White Stripes, Bloc Party, Daft Punk) and producing (Peaches) and in 2007 Digitalism released their first album Idealism, which embodied the indie-dance crossover sound of the times that they shared with contemporaries Justice, Erol Alkan and Soulwax. Their next album came in 2011 with I Love You Dude, which showcased a more refined sound and techno based production and featured classic tracks like “Circles” and “Miami Showdown.” By this point Digitalism were in the electronic music spotlight. In the US they found themselves gracing the stages of Coachella and Lollapalooza and their house and techno driven DJ sets delivered hours of carefully programmed genre spanning music, while maintaining their trademark sound.

Digitalism hinted at their latest sonic evolution earlier this year with a soundcloud-only release that was the lead up to this summer’s “Wolves” single. The track was released on June 23rd by PIAS in the US with several high profile remixes including the RAC one as well as one from the legendary Booka Shade and another from Riton, one of the UK’s premiere DJ/producers.

Always a dance act that embraced rock music, “Wolves” is the first single from Digitalism that puts the band in a very different musical place from previously released material. It aims to marry European electronic music with American songwriting to deliver a dance-hit. With a new album due to drop in 2015, be sure to catch Digitalism on this upcoming North American run as “Wolves” takes you into the next phase with this innovative duo.
