Guantanamo Baywatch’s “Too Late” Bows

There’s a sugarcoated history of rock n’ roll’s infancy that glosses over the sleaze and debauchery of those early formative years. Perhaps reruns of Happy Days and other remnants of baby boomer nostalgia perpetuate it. Or maybe it’s just that every new musical generation feels compelled to raise the ante on riling up the young’uns, and consequently we have a tendency to forget how those electric pioneers were actually total badasses. Look folks, we hit a dead end with sonic extremes years ago. Do you really think you can conjure up something more unlistenable than Napalm Death’s Scum? One could argue that musical rebellion in the 21st century isn’t about finding new ways to deconstruct the wheel, but is instead about building upon traditions and perverting them to your own ends.

Twenty One Pilots’ Blurryface Tops Album Chart

With over 146,000 equivalent units, powered by over 133,000 in pure album sales, Twenty One Pilots have landed at the top of the Billboard Charts with their triumphant sophomore studio album Blurryface. Since announcing the album’s release in March, excitement reached a fever pitch as all singles charted in the Top 5 on iTunes and tour dates began selling out months in advance. The band celebrated their album release with an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, performing “Tear In My Heart” and “Stressed Out,” showcasing their explosive approach to live performance. The album has also charted worldwide, including Top 5 in Canada, as well as Top 20 in Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, and the UK.

Dave Mason’s Traffic Jam Goes Hawaiian

It’s been over three years since legendary singer-songwriter and guitarist Dave Mason has performed in the Hawaiian Islands and he’s looking forward to his long-awaited return next month. Beginning Thursday, June 11, Dave and his band, Dave Mason’s Traffic Jam, will be hitting the stage at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s Castle Theatre for his first of four shows in four consecutive nights on the Hawaiian Islands.
