Gil Scott-Heron Documentary And Nothing New Released
Nothing New is an album by Gil Scott-Heron of stripped down vocal and piano versions of songs from his back catalogue, recorded in New York with producer Richard Russell between 2005 and 2009. Originally released as a limited edition vinyl only LP for Record Store Day 2014, the music is now being made available digitally for the first time today, 1st April 2015, in celebration of what would have been Gil’s 66th birthday.

Callaghan’s Crazy Beautiful Life Released
Nashville based singer/songwriter Callaghan has just released the video for “Crazy Beautiful Life, the first single from her second album, A History of Now. The video can be viewed here: “Crazy Beautiful Life.” “Crazy Beautiful Life” goes for adds at Triple A radio in the U.S. on April 6th. Her first U.K. single from the album, “Best Year 2015,” is currently in rotation on BBC Radio 2 there. Billboard has thrown its support behind the release with an online feature about the new album and Callaghan’s upcoming epic house concert tour.

Steve Grand’s All American Boy Hits 27
On March 23rd, Chicago-based songwriter Steve Grand independently released his debut album All American Boy. This morning, the album debuted at #3 on the Billboard Independent Albums Chart and #27 on the Billboard Top 200 Charts ahead of other new releases by Smallpools, Big Data, Laura Marling, and Odesza – a massive achievement for an independent artist releasing an album on their own label (Grand Nation).

Stromae’s “Carmen” Video Bows
Directed by visionary French filmmaker Sylvain Chomet [The Illusionist, Paris, je t’aime], the “Carmen” video follows an animated Stromae and his accompanying “Tweeter” bird through the darker side of social media. The video, which premiered yesterday on Buzzfeed, quickly began amassing millions of views within hours of its premiere.

Laura Marling Introduces “Gurdjieff’s Daughter”
Laura Marling has unveiled the music video for “Gurdjieff’s Daughter.” The track is from her new album Short Movie, which was released on March 23rd through Ribbon Music. “Gurdjieff’s Daughter” was filmed where Laura used to live in East Los Angeles, giving a glimpse into her California life. It includes a few of her friends she met while writing the album in LA, including Rostam Batmanglij from Vampire Weekend, Jonathan Wilson, British singer/songwriter Marika Hackman and British actress Rhian Rees and writer Hanne Steen.
