Zeta Wave’s music to artists like Feist, Ingrid Michaelson, Goldfrapp, and Robyn. She’s definitely diverse enough that her music incorporates elements of sound from all four of those artists, while still giving a unique, likeable sound. – The Celebrity Cafe

Zeta Wave is the musical alias of Aliya Hashemi, a singer-songwriter from Seattle. Embarking on a new journey, Aliya moved to Los Angeles where she continued writing, and eventually recorded the songs for her debut EP titled “Over”. The six-track EP from Zeta Wave will be released on October 14th, 2014. Her genre is bedroom dance pop for fans of Robyn, Marina and The Diamonds, and Ellie Goulding.

Aliya, a vibrant young singer-songwriter, has had a passion for music since day one. She grew up singing and playing music throughout her childhood, where she started playing piano, guitar, and flute by age 12. Her music is informed from inspirations as diverse A Tribe Called Quest, The Beatles, and Fiona Apple.

For the first single off the EP, “Strange Heartbeat” is about a recent drawn-out breakup. The sentiment is about hanging on and trying to make it work, but not being able to ignore the uneasiness in your heart, and that it’s time to move on. When it was time to lay down the foundation for the recording, Aliya discovered Zach Nicita (of NICITA and MSMR) on Youtube. Impressed by his creativity, she reached out to him on Facebook and shared a rough recording of the song. Nicita agreed to program drums and worked on them in New York and on his off time while on tour with MSMR. From there, Aliya and her musician friends added eerie synth and MOOG sounds to round out the song.

“Waltz” another track off the EP came together during a dreary Seattle winter. While struggling with endless days of gray, Aliya penned the love song to escape, as Waltz is about finding and losing yourself in a love that is larger than you, that which is always with you and transcends the day-to-day happenings that can bog you down.
