WAKEY!WAKEY! TO RELEASE SALVATION ON JULY 22, 2014THE BAND WILL TOUR THROUGH THE SUMMER AND
INTO FALL IN SUPPORT OF SALVATION New York, NY (May 27, 2014) – On July 22, 2014 MummaGrubbs Records/Thirty Tigers will release Salvation, the new album from the Brooklyn-based, Wakey!Wakey! Produced by “Fabulous” Fab Dupont, the 11-track album follows the band’s critically acclaimed Irresistible EP which was released in January and is their first full-length release in four years. Frontman Michael Grubbs knows the album is much different from his previous releases saying, “We took a big step forward toward making something bigger.” He goes on, “I wrote the last album when I was in a pretty dark place. Salvation captures my current state, which is happy. Really happy. I’m taking a leap of faith that my fans have evolved with me.” It seems that his fans have evolved with him. Grubbs and the band launched a Pledge Music campaign to help fund the new album and raised 141% of their goal. Grubbs collaborated with some big names – Boots Ottestad, Dan Keyes, Fredrik Eriksson, Peter Stengaard, Caleb Shreve – to write all the songs on Salvation. The first single off the album will be “Wake Up (Lily, I love you)” and the track was shipped to Triple A, Non-Comm and Specialty Formats on May 19 with an impact date of June 2. The band’s summer tour in support of Salvation is already selling well and will take them up and down the east coast including a show in Brooklyn at the Music Hall of Williamsburg on June 26 and an album release show in Mike’s hometown of Richmond, VA on July 19 where they’ll play The Camel. The band will head to the UK for additional tour dates and album promo before returning to the States for a fall tour. The fall dates will take them to the west coast with shows in Denver, Portland, Seattle, Los Angeles and more. All tour dates are listed below and more will be announced mid-June. Despite wanting to give up, 5 years ago Grubbs wrote the song “War Sweater” which jettisoned him into stardom thanks to a game-changing plug on the CW hit show, “One Tree Hill.” In May 2009, the creator of the show discovered Wakey!Wakey! through a friend. He placed the song on the finale of their 6th season and cast Grubbs in a small role as bartender. Overnight, his world changed waking up to “War Sweater” reaching #13 on the iTunes chart the next day. That song lead him to sign with Family Records who released the band’s 2010 debut album, Almost Everything I Wish I’d Said The Last Time I Saw You which went on to sell over 45,000 copies and reach #1 on Billboard’s Heatseakers Chart.
