Austin, TX, melodic death metallers VEX have announced the first single from their upcoming third full-length “Sky Exile.” The track, entitled “To Anacreon (Strangling the Muse)”, is poised for release just as the band join atmospheric metal masters AGALLOCH on the Southeastern leg of their US tour in late June.
Speaking about the single and upcoming LP, guitarist Ciaran McCloskey explores the conceptual workings behind the music:
“It’s a lyrical consideration of the relationship between the grand age of the Dionysians and our own curious age of contemporary art and catharsis. The dialogue in this song will introduce a central narrative set somewhere in West Texas during the torturous drought-plagued summer of 2011. This story will be a focal point of the album as a whole. We are hoping it finished by the end of the year.”
WORMGEAR ZINE described VEX as, “technically colorful…a potent and meaningful sub-genre of death/thrash/black inspired metal.”
Progressive and thoughtful, the LP will expand upon their previous full-length “Memorious” released on 2XLP via BINDRUNE RECORDS‘ death metal subsidiary EIHWAZ PRODUCTIONS.
VEX‘s live set will consist of titles from “Sky Exile” and “Memorious“.
