Time Warner Nixes CeeLo Greene Show
Time Warner, TBS Cancel CeeLo Green’s ‘The Good Life’ After Rape Tweet Controversy
More than 30,000 UltraViolet Members Joined Campaign for Show’s Cancellation in Just Three Hours
Today, less than three hours after a campaign was launched to call on Time Warner and TBS to cancel CeeLo Green’s reality show The Good Life, in the wake of his controversial tweets claiming that an unconscious drugged woman cannot be raped if she doesn’t remember, UltraViolet has received word that the show has been cancelled. More than 30,000 UltraViolet members signed onto the short campaign in less than three hours.
“This is a huge victory for women and survivors of rape and sexual assault,” said Shaunna Thomas, co-founder of UltraViolet. “No matter how famous you are, rape is never ok. CeeLo Green publicized views that rape isn’t rape if a woman doesn’t remember–a false and dangerous claim. We urge CeeLo Green, Time Warner, and TBS to take this moment to donate to an organization helping survivors of rape, and are looking into whether any next steps are appropriate.”
