YOUNG EMPIRES REVEAL TEEN DAZE
REMIX OF “THE GATES”
ANNOUNCE TOUR DATES – NYC, CHICAGO, PHILADELPHIA AND MORE!
On the heals of the release of their latest single “The Gates” Toronto’s Young Empires are excited to share a remix of the track courtesy of Teen Daze. Bullet premiered the song saying “on their recent single ‘The Gates” …Young Empires keep one foot rooted on the dance floor even amidst the buoyancy of the track’s synthy ascendancy..for his remix, Teen Daze, long one of our favorites, teases that essence out. The beat still compels, but it’s shot through with Teen Daze’s trademark twinkling effervescence.”
The band previously stated that “The Gates” is “essentially about fighting through depression and self-doubt… understanding and accepting that things will never be perfect. It suggests that by uniting with those around us (that may or not struggle with same), we can overcome this feeling of isolation that is so commonplace in this world.”
“The Gates,” along with the earlier released “So Cruel” highlights Young Empires’ penchant for crafting songs that effortlessly tread the line between dance music and rock with infectious ease. The Fader labeled “So Cruel” “pure, smooth electro-pop bliss” and Stereogum described it as “sounding something like Passion Pit might if they spent some serious time in Berlin’s finer house-music establishments / this is some top-shelf festival-pop.”
Young Empires are also excited to announce the first round of tour dates in 2015. The tour includes stops in Chicago, Philadelphia and NYC. The full list of dates are:
