Taylor Berrett’s “Broken” At Teen Vogue
TAYLOR BERRETT PREMIERES NEW SONG “BROKEN” WITH TEEN VOGUE DEBUT ALBUM GREAT FALLS COMING MARCH 10, 2015 Tour dates announced, including residency at Rockwood Music Hall in NYC and co-headline tour with Dylan Gardner Singer and songwriter Taylor Berrett just premiered his haunting new track “Broken” with TeenVogue.com. The song is just one of many standouts from the upcoming debut album Great Falls, slated for release March 10, 2015 with Warner Bros. Records. TeenVogue highlights “Broken” as a “must-hear track,” and loves how “Taylor’s style of music is the type that perfectly puts you at ease and can be on repeat all day long.” “I’ve always been interested in incompleteness and the desire to be made whole,” Taylor told TeenVogue about the track. “Like a lot of my songs, [“Broken”] is directed towards someone else but it’s really me talking to myself-trying to be OK with being broken.” Take a listen to “Broken” via TeenVogue.com: http://www.teenvogue.com/entertainment/music/2015-02/taylor-berrett-broken-exclusive-track-release The 22 year old from Virginia has wanted to be a writer for a while, but it wasn’t always songwriting specifically he intended. “As a kid I always wanted to write books, until I discovered songwriting and the way that it allows for storytelling not only through words but also through music and rhythm,” he says. “That really excited me…and eventually [I] found my way to some folks who could help get [my music] out into the world, which was a huge blessing. Those “folks” would be the production company of SRP Music Group (helmed by Carl Sturken and Evan Rogers, best known for signing and developing Rihanna), iconic songwriter Kara DioGuardi and Warner/Chappell Music, and WBR since the summer of 2013. For Great Falls, Taylor worked alongside UK-based producer Jake Gosling, most known for his work with Ed Sheeran, Christina Perri and One Direction, and has crafted an album that combines the best of an acoustic-guitar-based style with Taylor’s added soul and carefully crafted lyrics driving it home. As MTV Buzzworthy says, “His vocals are so heartfelt, you can’t help but be sucked in.” “One of the most important things to me is that my songs have value to people,” he says. “If after three and a half minutes, someone feels better than they did before-or at least looks at something in a new or different way-then I feel like I’ve done my job as a songwriter and a musician.” Taylor is returning to the road – following his tour with Alex Clare at the end of 2014 – for a slew of dates in the Northeast throughout February and March, including a 3-date residency at Rockwood Music Hall in NYC and a co-headline run with 18-year-old talent Dylan Gardner.
