INTERNATIONAL SUPERSTAR STROMAE REVEALS MUSIC VIDEO FOR “CARMEN” LIVE NOW ON VEVO
5 MILLION VIEWS IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS UPON ITS RELEASE
“Stromae Warns Of The Tweetpocalypse In Amazingly Animated “Carmen” Video” Buzzfeed
Directed by visionary French filmmaker Sylvain Chomet [The Illusionist, Paris, je t’aime], the “Carmen” video follows an animated Stromae and his accompanying “Tweeter” bird through the darker side of social media. The video, which premiered yesterday on Buzzfeed, quickly began amassing millions of views within hours of its premiere.
Hailed by The New York Times as “one of the few contemporary musicians to directly evoke Europe’s ambient moroseness” with “an eclecticism that has earned him critical praise,” Stromae has received praise from the world’s most respected critics including the NY Times, NPR, Billboard Magazine, Time Out Magazine, and many others. Since his last sold out North American tour Stromae has sold more than 3.5 million albums worldwide, with his breakout single “Papaoutai” breaking the 240-million mark on YouTube/VEVO, while also reaching #1 on iTunes in 18 different countries.
Stromae made his US festival debut at SXSW 2015, where he quickly proved a fan and press favorite. The Associated Press, Esquire, and Blackbook all dubbed him an “artist to look out for,” while Billboard, NPR, Spin, and more penned rave reviews of his Fader Fort performance and NPR showcase. Stromae kicks off the west coast leg of his U.S. tour this month playing everywhere from Coachella to Lollapalooza. In September he returns for an east coast run and will close out at the famed Madison Square Garden in NYC with his biggest stateside headlining show to date.
Stromae’s album Racine Carrée is available now!
