In her 15-year recording career, Stacey Kent has sold over 1.3 million records. Her storytelling, voice and style mesmerize audiences and create devout fans. Because it’s so hard to categorize her – an American who speaks fluent French as well as Portuguese, Italian and German– she can transcend genre and cross borders and cultures with an ease matched by few other artists. She does so in her lifestyle too, living between Colorado in the U.S. and England.

With the U.S. release of The Changing Lights (February 11, 2014), Stacey re-imagines her truly personal sound through the prism of Brazilian music. Having recently recorded a live album in Rio De Janeiro with Marcos Valle, in celebration of his 50th year in music, Stacey’s musical journey has brought her ever closer to Brazilian music. The CD includes original compositions and classic songs from the biggest names in Brazilian music, including Tôm Jobim, Dori Caymmi, Marcos Valle and the Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award recipient, Roberto Menescal, who performs on two of the album’s tracks, including his own “O Barquinho,” and who met Stacey randomly at an event, where they each quickly professed mutual admiration.

Released on Warner Bros Records in the U.S., this new album was produced and arranged by her longtime professional and personal partner, Jim Tomlinson. Jim and Stacey once again collaborated with the acclaimed novelist Kazuo Ishiguro, the same team that wrote The Ice Hotel and Breakfast On The Morning Tram.  This CD finds Stacey visiting some of her favorite Bossa Nova songs, including “This Happy Madness,” “One Note Samba,” “How Insensitive,” alongside original songs composed by Tomlinson with Ishiguro (“The Changing Lights”; “Waiter, Oh Waiter”; “The Summer We Crossed Europe In The Rain”). There are also collaborations with Portuguese poet Antonio Ladeira (“Mais Uma Vez,” “A Tarde”) and French lyricist Bernie Beaupère (“Chanson Légère”), the lyricist of the title track of Stacey’s all French album Raconte-Moi.

The release has been supported by a worldwide tour including such prestigious venues as Ronnie Scott’s Club in London, L’Olympia in Paris and Birdland Jazz Club in New York City, which she’ll return to JUNE 10-14, 2014. Her most recent Blue Note/EMI albums include the Grammy-nominated, platinum-selling, Breakfast on the Morning Tram, Raconte-Moi and Dreamer in Concert.
