Spindrift’s Ghost Of The West Film & Tour

Spindrift Screening Original Film SPINDRIFT – GHOST OF THE WEST
& Performing Soundtrack Live This Summer

Psychdelic Western band Spindrift will be kicking off a special tour later this month, screening their original film SPINDRIFT – GHOST OF THE WEST and performing its soundtrack live across the Western US. The film was shot during the band’s 2012 Ghost Town Tour, where they performed live at national parks, historical sites, vast deserts, and strange & forgotten locations. Full of hauntingly gorgeous landscapes and set to a soundtrack of trippy, reverb-soaked tracks, this summer marks the first-ever screenings of the film, though it’s official soundtrack was released last year on Tee Pee Records.

SPINDRIFT – GHOST OF THE WEST, directed by Burke Roberts, is not the band’s first foray into the film world— their sound has always been heavily influenced by Spaghetti Westerns and they’ve soundtracked a handful of films, including 2008’s Tarantino-produced Hell Ride. Since forming in 1992, Spindrift’s various lineups have included members of Psychic TV, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, and The Warlocks, and they’ve toured with Dead Meadow, BRMC, The Dandy Warhols, and The Black Angels. Led by the deep, bellowing baritone of frontman Kirpatrick Thomas, the band’s unique sound has been described as “experimental,” “cinematic,” and like “living the American dream, were it written by acid-popping UFO enthusiasts.”
