Son Little To Tour With Mumford & Sons
SON LITTLE MAKES STIRRING NATIONAL TELEVISION DEBUT ON CBS THIS MORNING SATURDAY NEW SINGLE “O MOTHER” SHOWCASES LITTLE’S SOUL POETICS TOUR DATES WITH MUMFORD & SONS KICK OFF NEXT MONTH SON LITTLE made his national television debut on CBS This Morning Saturday this past weekend, performing tracks from his Anti- EP Things I Forgot as well as his timely new single “O Mother.” Watch here CBS This Morning Saturday LITTLE, a bluesman for the hip-hop generation, performed “O Mother,” a track from his highly anticipated upcoming debut album. “O Mother,” a slow-burning ache of a song, attempts to make sense of Ferguson and other recent tragedies, asking the lyrical question “Why do they treat me like I’m not a man? I wonder does anybody know just who I am?” Comparing the track to Marvin Gaye’s monumental anthem “Inner City Blues (Make Me Wanna Holler)” The New Yorker called “O Mother” “a deeply personal slow jam which takes up where Gaye’s song left off.” LITTLE also performed “The River,” a swampy reconstruction of American blues instilled with elements of hip-hop and raw guitar rock; the song showcases an artist inspired by tradition but not owned by it. In live performance, LITTLE incorporates elements of blues and psychedelia behind his timeless voice, racked with the conviction of the roadhouse and the church. Vibe magazine said of him, “Heartache never sounded this good.” This past week, LITTLE performed at the Non-Comm radio convention in Philadelphia with such artists as Brian Wilson and Calexico. This June he will be appearing at the The Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival as well as opening a series of dates for Mumford And Sons.
