SomeKindaWonderful Tours Behind “Reverse”
SOMEKINDAWONDERFUL
SET TO KICK OFF 34-DATE FALL U.S. TOUR OCTOBER 14 IN WASHINGTON, DC
WITH NEW POLITICS AND BAD SUNS
GENRE-BENDING GROUP WILL TAKE THEIR TOP 20 RADIO HIT ‘REVERSE’
ACROSS THE U.S., INCLUDING STOPS IN LOS ANGELES (11/1) AND NEW YORK CITY (11/25)
SomeKindaWonderful–Jordy Towers (vocals/lyrics), Matt Gibson (guitar), Ben Schigel (drums), Justin Andres (bass/keys) and Sarah Dryer (vocals/percussion)–is set to kick off their 34-date fall U.S. tour alongside New Politics and Bad Suns beginning October 14 in Washington D.C. Before the tour officially gets underway, the group with join Capital Cities, Pepper, New Politics and more at Modern RockFest in North Carolina on October 11.
“We’re a spectacle, like a circus; it’s just real entertainment,” Jordy says of the tour. “We’re not just dudes standing there with guitars and singing. It’s a real show. It’s a soulful circus. We’re a grunge-soul band, we’re grimy and dirty and in your face but we’re beautiful. Expect the unexpected.”
The genre-bending group broke out in a big way this year, with their self-titled debut album (released July 23 via Downtown Records/White Clover Records) debuting at #8 on the iTunes Alternative albums chart (#30 overall); the lead single “Reverse” resonated with fans across the country, staying on the Top 20 radio charts for over 16 weeks with the support of over 37 stations nationwide and garnering over 2 million combined plays on major streaming services. Click here to watch the video for “Reverse” directed by Marc Klasfeld (Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake, Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers), whose cinematic kaleidoscope of imagery tells the tale of “Reverse”–a love story gone wrong–chronologically backwards.
“I don’t think anyone’s ever written a song backwards before,” Jordy explains about writing “Reverse.” “It was the first song we wrote together as a band, the night we met; that was the song we wrote and we didn’t even know each other. We met in the bar writing that song. It kind of set the tone for us. Before we even thought of putting out a single or doing anything…that was our song.”
“I am my best self with these guys and this music. It’s been like therapy for me I guess, which is kind of cliché to say, but it really has. Everything I’ve done to this point has always been a little messed up, it was always good but it was never a hundred percent there. I just let go on this album and now it’s like ‘we got this.’ I know who I am, what it is, who these guys are, why I’m here and it just feels really great and liberating.”
Check out the band’s “RoadToRadio” series (with new video episodes premiering every Thursday on the band’s YouTube) as they take fans behind the scenes while visiting radio stations across the country to perform their lead single and conduct hilarious interviews.
