THE SECRET SISTERS ANNOUNCE SUMMER TOUR DATES

 

WITH IRON & WINE AND NICKEL CREEK

New York, NY – June 5, 2014 – The Secret Sisters have been scoring rave reviews this year for their new album PUT YOUR NEEDLE DOWN, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart, as well as fortheir memorable sets opening for Nickel Creek.  The Secret Sisters will be back on the road this summer with newly added dates supporting Iron & Wine this June and will join back up with Nickel Creek for the second leg of their tour in July. PUT YOUR NEEDLE DOWN, the Muscle Shoals, Alabama duo’s sophomore album, was produced by T Bone Burnett and marks a giant creative step forward for The Secret Sisters. The New York Times described the album as “proudly old-fashioned, reviving the close harmonies of the Everly Brothers and writing songs that hark back to vintage country storytelling…they’re devoted to the rootsy anachronism, the throwback with modern savvy. It’s a self-conscious project that, somehow, never affects the directness of the songs.”

USA Today gave the album 4 out of 4 stars and Rolling Stone said, “Ethereal harmonies once again take center stage on The Secret Sisters’ sophomore album [that] takes the listener back to a time when vocalists valued purity over production.”

The album, which is primarily written or co-written by Laura and Lydia Rogers blends an exciting and decidedly Southern patchwork of country, blues, Americana, folk, rock and gospel. It also features “Dirty Lie,” co-written with Bob Dylan. Dylan started the song in the ’80s but it had gone unfinished until he heard that The Secret Sisters were recording a new album.  He invited them to finish and record the song for PUT YOUR NEEDLE DOWN.
