Sarah Jarosz Tours Britain, Scotland, Ireland & Wales
Sarah Jarosz Makes Critically-Acclaimed Trip To Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England
Performances Dazzle From Kilkenny to Cambridge
After three weeks and fifteen performances, Sarah Jarosz returns to the US this week from an incredible run of shows in the United Kingdom and her very first dates in Ireland. Stops on the tour included Kilkenny’s Set Theatre, Galway’s Campbell’s Tavern, London’s Bush Hall, Oxford’s St. John The Evangelist Church and two days at the 50th Anniversary of the fabled Cambridge Folk Festival.
Jarosz toured with stellar musicians Alex Hargreaves (fiddle) and Nathaniel Smith (cello), the same configuration she has been touring with for the past four years. The 23-year-old, Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist’s performances were highlighted with interviews and features in top publications including The Irish Times, The Irish Mail, The Daily Mirror, The Oxford Times, The Independent, Songlines, R2, The Metro Herald and Star Review. No Depression, in its review of the Cambridge Folk Festival, cited Jarosz and her set as the one to watch; “But there’s always someone relatively new who seems to be everywhere and the name on people’s lips. This year it was Sarah Jarosz, who won friends throughout the weekend.”
Jarosz made time to visit several radio stations on this tour. Ricky Ross of BBC Radio Scotland’s “Another Country” did a special in-studio session, with Jarosz performing solo versions of her songs and talking about some of her musical heroes. The trio guested on Today with Sean O’Rourke on RTE Radio 1, The Robert Elms Show on BBC Radio London and the Folk Show with Mark Radcliffe on BBC Radio 2.
Here’s a sampling from some of the media outlets on Jarosz’s release Build Me Up From Bones (released in the UK in January 2014):
“Her guitar, mandolin and banjo work are exceptional…However, her original songs such as Over The Edge and Gone Too Soon are the stand-outs on a real grower.” 4 Stars — The Mail
“Judging by the quality of song and performance, Irish audiences are in for a treat…These songs and performances display technical virtuosity, imagination and sensitivity. Jarosz has a rich voice and the confidence to go with it…” 4 Stars — The Irish Times Magazine
“Her albums Follow Me Down and Build Me Up From Bones are distinct and assured sets of self-penned work and powerful covers. “— The Independent
“Sarah Jarosz is a talented and dedicated musician whose music is hugely enjoyable and atmospheric. With her smoky, natural voice she sings bold, melodic and thoughtful songs which are mostly her own. There’s something very fresh and different about her that excites and captivates an audience.” — AAA music (Access All Areas)
