In 2008, Root 49 Music was founded by Nashville publisher Carolyn Miller and songwriters Bridgette Tatum and Danny Myrick. In 2011, the company signed Grammy-nominated songwriter Odie Blackmon. To date, Root 49 Music has a catalogue of 635 songs.
Tatum, Myrick, and Blackmon have written dozens of hit songs for some of the biggest names in Nashville. Blackmon penned the Gary Allan hit, “Pieces”, and has written songs for country iconsGeorge Strait and Lee Ann Womack. Both Tatum and Myrick penned Jason Aldean’s #1 song, “She’s Country.” In addition, Myrick has co-written hits for Chris Cagle’s “Got My Country On”, Tim McGraw’s “Truck Yeah”, as well as Craig Morgan’s “International Harvester.”
Root 49 Music already has a strong connection with Round Hill Music. Round Hill Music’s Nashville Vice President and General Manager, Mark Brown, served as Chief Creative Officer for Root 49 Music from 2010 to 2013. Earlier in 2014, Myrick signed a new deal with the joint venture between Round Hill Music and Marti Frederiksen’s (Aerosmith, Gavin Rossdale, Ozzy Osbourne) company, Riding Songs.
