FILM GROUP OPENS ITS DOORS WITH TOP TALENT AND FUNDING
Focused on creative excellence, and bringing with it a large pool of private equity funding, Resurgent Film Group announced today the formation of its new media company. Dedicated to producing a top quality slate of projects that will raise the bar in Hollywood, Resurgent’s executive team encompasses a diverse background in production and finance.
With Des Carey as President, Brent Baum as Chief Operating Officer, Matthew Marsden as Executive Vice President of Development, and Brad Thor as Executive Chairman, Resurgent will kick off its film slate by adapting the first novel of Thor’s #1 New York Times bestselling international franchise, “The Lions of Lucerne.”
It follows Scot Harvath, a young Navy SEAL turned U.S. Secret Service agent who survives an attack, which leaves 30 of his fellow agents dead and the president of the United States kidnapped. He begins a worldwide hunt for those responsible in an attempt to rescue the president.
Thor, an international bestselling author whose global reach spans across more than 28 languages, has written numerous widely popular thrillers such as “Act of War,” “Hidden Order,” “Black List” and more.
“A new era has begun in entertainment and Resurgent will set its gold standard. By developing top quality projects, attracting top quality people, and deploying top quality processes, we are going to create exceptional entertainment product that respects our audience.”
Resurgent has hired Carey, who was honored in 2012 as one of the “Hollywood 50.” This award is in recognition of the “top 50 most influential technology innovators in the entertainment industry.” Carey has designed and produced the Digital Finishing on over 80 of Hollywood’s most ambitious feature films. A few of his credits include “Quantum Of Solace,” “Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World’s End,” “Terminator: Salvation,” “Mission: Impossible III,” “Fast & Furious” and “Flight,” as well as the groundbreaking movies “Transformers,” “Watchmen” and “300.”
Baum, founder and previous President and Chief Operating Officer of Destination Films, is a film producer/director and entertainment consultant currently directing/producing the feature documentary “Finding Noah.” His experience in the motion picture business encompasses the development, production, financing, distribution and sale of over a dozen movies including “The Wedding Planner,” “Eye of the Beholder” and “Beautiful.”
Rounding out the team is Marsden, an actor and producer who has been seen in such films as “Black Hawk Down,” “Rambo” and “Resident Evil – Extinction.” After a stint in the music industry, which resulted in the hit single “The Heart’s Lone Desire,” he returned to acting to be featured in films such as “Shiner,” “Helen of Troy,” “Anacondas” and “Bounty Killer.” Marsden also has extensive television credits including “CSI Miami,” “The Ghost Whisperer,” “Nikita,” and “Two and a Half Men.”
