(New York, New York) – Grammy Award winner Ray LaMontagne announces his Supernova Summer Tour today. The 42 city North American tour will begin on May 27th in Portland, ME and culminate on August, 13th in Seattle, WA. Ray will hit the road in support of his 5th studio album Supernova which will be released on May 6th via RCA Records. Ray welcomes Jason Isbell and Jenny Lewis to support on select dates as well as The Belle Brigade for the entire run. Additional support will be announced soon.
Tickets for the general public begin going on sale on Friday, March 14th 10:00 AM local time (please check your market for select timings). Fans who pre-order Supernova on Amazon.com (starting now until March 13th at 10:00 PM local time) will receive early access to purchase tickets to the tour. Please see specific details below.
Supernova was produced by Dan Auerbach (The Black Keys) and recorded in Nashville, TN. The first single, Supernova was released last week and was the #1 track on Spotify’s viral 50 chart. The single also landed on Entertainment Weekly’s Must List stating the song, “captures young love with a rustic rock sound that evokes Van Morrison and Bob Seger.”
Last week, Ray revealed to Time Magazine, “For the longest time these songs were eluding me. I felt like a kid trying to collect lightning bugs. I’d catch a glimpse out of the corner of my eye and run for it, but the light would go out just as I thought I’d gotten hold of one. But eventually I caught on to their game. I stopped chasing them altogether. Instead I just sat there as if I were completely disinterested in them. And wouldn’t you know it, one by one they came to me! Flew right into my jar.”
Ray LaMontagne has released 4 studio albums (Trouble, Till The Sun Turns Black, Gossip in the Grain and God Willin’ & the Creek Don’t Rise). Ray’s most recent critically acclaimed, Grammy award winning album God Willin’ & the Creek Don’t Rise released in 2010 debuted at #3 on the Billboard Top 200 and #1 on the Digital Album chart. This marked a personal sales best for Ray and tied his debut chart position at #3 with Gossip in the Grain.
