Andrew Conroy’s path to stardom doesn’t begin with his band, RAIN CITY ROCKERS’September 16, 2014 release of their debut album MAYDAY on Flashlight Music Group. In fact, the album itself is nothing more than the tip of Conroy’s musical iceberg.

The story of how Conroy got to his release date is one of incredible faith, charm and unquestionable talent. With a virtually empty resume of industry experience, Conroy used a collection of incredibly well-written, power-pop songs as his bargaining chip to entice and position himself as the frontman of Rain City Rockers, a seasoned band featuring members Tom Thacker (Sum 41, Gob), Anthony Bleed (Die Mannequin) and Darrin Pfeiffer (Goldfinger). Conroy introduced his band to the world through an exclusive interview with Substream Music Press and before revealing the band’s first single, “Saint Babe” on New Noise Magazine’s website.

Conroy’s path to Mayday began years ago. He became obsessed with a desire to create a raw and visceral album with limited processing and studio production. “I kinda got the idea a few years ago when I was in San Francisco,” Conroy explains. “I was going vinyl shopping and looking through all the record I had purchased, some Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin, and the thing I really liked about those records is the fact that they were recorded live off the floor with no click tracks — with great musicians.” Attempting to bridge the gap between the 60s and 70s and the 21st century, Conroy took that concept to heart, gathering the band to record Mayday… in one day. Each track, from the power-pop influenced, drum and guitar heavy “Mindful Madness” and “Saint Babe” to the pop-ballad “On My Own” highlight the sincere approach to capturing the music. Every exaggerated drum solo and hyper-aggressively guitar riff stands bold and proud, presented as it. “The entire album was recorded live off the floor,” Conroy reveals. “I wanted to capture that feel with a modern sound. You may even hear some of our little mistakes – but I love the energy behind it. To me, the energy and feel is more important than making sure every note is perfectly in tune, or every drum hit is perfectly on time.”

Mayday is the result of that process. Conroy’s belief in his concept and the band’s faith in Conroy’s raw talents shine through in the energy and emotion found on the album. On September 16, 2014, with the release of Mayday, Rain City Rockers will supply that certainty to the world.
