Pretty Lights – described by Rick Rubin as “the face and voice of the new American electronic music scene” – will return to Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO on August 8 and 9, 2014. The shows will mark the fifth consecutive year that Pretty Lights has headlined Red Rocks, with all previous shows selling out.
“Over the course of both nights all PL styles – new and old – will be explored and evolved,” says Pretty Lights’ Derek Vincent Smith, who will be joined onstage by a full band, 13 members of the Colorado Symphony and other special guests. “New life will be brought into the new music I’ve been working on and my older work via remixing, via The Analog Future Band, and via the sounds of live symphonic composition in the most acoustically beautiful venue anywhere. Red Rocks is such a powerful and beautiful place. I have a profound respect for the honor that it is to perform there.”

See below for itinerary. The Preservation Hall Jazz Band horn players and guitarist Eric Krasno will be joining Pretty Lights and The Analog Future Band at the JazzFest by Nite show. In addition, Brooklyn emcee, Talib Kweli and The Hot 8 Brass Band will perform. One dollar of every ticket sold will be split between two NOLA charities: Sticking Up For Children and New Orleans Musician’s Clinic. Much of Pretty Lights’ GRAMMY®-nominated album A Color Map of the Sunwas recorded in New Orleans with local musicians and vocalists. Pretty Lights will also be spreading the electro-hiphop-soul across the UK and Europe this summer on a festival tour. Incelebration of Record Store Day 2014, Pretty Lights just released The Hidden Shades, a double 10″ vinyl set containing four previously unreleased tracks recorded during the A Color Map of the Sun sessions, plus remixes by Emancipator, ODESZA, Blue Sky Black Death and Love and Light. As an official Record Store Day 2014 release, The Hidden Shades is limited to a single pressing. It is available at participating independent record stores in the U.S. and Europe.Fans can get free downloads of two tracks from the collection – “Lost And Found” and “Lost And Found (ODESZA Remix)”
The tracks feature vocals by the late “Uncle” Lionel Batiste (Treme Brass Band), who passed away shortly after the recording sessions. The ODESZA remix of “Lost And Found” also appears on the original motion picture soundtrack for the film Divergent. Tracks from A Color Map of the Sun have racked up more than two million cumulative plays on SoundCloud.
