Mike Ragogna: What advice do you have for new artists?
Phil Manzenara: My biggest advice for new artists is listen to the biggest range of music you can because all of that stuff goes into your brain and comes out at some point. If you limit yourself to types of music, you won’t have such a great pallet of colors to work from. That is my biggest bit of advice. I was brought up with South American music, then brought to London with The Beatles and the ’60s in London, jazz, funk, soul, rock ‘n’ roll, r&b… Now, I just listen to all new stuff all of the time.
MR: Any parting words of wisdom?
PM: Keep healthy. [laughs] Your health is your wealth.
