Vocal sensations Pentatonix have released their 3rd EP, PTX Vol. III via RCA Records. The 7 track EP features a mix of global pop and indie hits with original songs. The EP immediately went to #1 on the iTunes Pop Chart upon release and is currently in the Top 5 on iTunes Main.
Earlier this morning the group released the music video for “Papaoutai” ft. Lindsey Stirling, an arrangement of Belgian superstar Stromae’s megahit. The PTX collaboration with Stirling is the first since they collaborated on Imagine Dragons’ “Radioactive,” which produced almost 200K singles sold and more than 90 million YouTube Views. “Papaoutai” is the third video from PTX Vol. III and follows “Problem” and “La La Latch” which have over 9.5 million views combined.
In support of their release of PTX Vol. III, the group performed on Good Morning America and are confirmed for an October 20th performance on Conan. The group has been featured in Billboard, People.com, Grammy.com, Glamour and much more. On the release of lead track, “Problem” Entertainment Weekly raved, “there’s nothing Pentatonix can’t tackle-including the pop-rap hybrid “Problem,” while PopCrush stated, “their arrangement is impressive, their vocals are spot-on.”
Pentatonix are also set to release a new holiday album -That’s Christmas To Me – on October 21st. The 11 track album includes a PTX-written title track, a combination of seasonal favorites and holiday classics, as well as a one-of-a-kind holiday mashup with a guest vocalist. The album is available now for pre-order at iTunes and Amazon.
Pentatonix consists of lead vocalists Scott Hoying, Kirstie Maldonado, and Mitch Grassi, vocal bass Avi Kaplan and beatboxer Kevin “K.O.” Olusola. Since their debut in 2011, the quintet has released 3 EP’s (PTX Volume 1, PTXmas and PTX Volume 2) selling over 500,000 copies combined. Having recently eclipsed 6.3 million subscribers and over 570 million cumulative views, the PTXOfficial YouTube page is currently the 13th most subscribed-to music channel, having surpassed the subscriber totals of both Avicii and Beyoncé.
Their most recent album – PTX Vol. 2 – debuted at #10 on Billboard’s Top 200 Album Chart and featured a 7-song Daft Punk medley (the track’s video has, to date, been viewed more than 93 million times). PTX Volume 2 follows PTX Volume 1 and PTXmas. Both albums originally debuted on Billboard’s Top 200 Chart and re-entered the chart in December 2013, with the deluxe version of PTXmas leading the charge. With the addition of new tracks “Little Drummer Boy” and “Go Tell It On The Mountain,” PTXmas has sold more than 200,000 copies and reached #1 on Billboard’s Digital Albums Chart. The video for “Little Drummer Boy” was a worldwide hit, racking up over 35 million views while the song landed at #13 on the Billboard Top 100 Singles Chart as well as #1 on Billboard’s Holiday 100 and Holiday Digital Songs Chart.
