Paul Carrack With Eric Clapton And New Album

Paul Carrack tours US with Eric Clapton,
releases new album Rain Or Shine

Paul Carrack has been called a “national treasure” and “the man with the golden voice” by the BBC, he’s enjoyed chart success as a solo performer and with the bands Ace, Squeeze, Roxy Music and Mike + The Mechanics. Carrackis a relative newcomer to Eric Clapton’s band, having only joined in March 2013. Here’s what Paul had to say about working with the incredible musicians that makeup that band:

“The tour of Japan and the Middle East was an incredible experience both culturally and musically. I really enjoyed the tour last year and this tour with a different line up of my musical heroes, was equally magical for me. Last year I got to play with Steve Jordan, Willie Weeks, Greg Leisz and Doyle Bramhall. This year, I fulfilled a lifelong ambition to play with Steve Gadd and Nathan East, two phenomenal musicians but also great human beings who it was a pleasure to be around.

The smaller band (no second guitarist) made it a slightly different situation to last year with a lot more space in the sound. Eric played incredibly well on the whole tour, but in particular the final night at the Budokan and Dubai will stick in my mind as truly memorable nights, where it was an absolute honour to be amongst true legends. Amazing.

I’m back on the road in the U.K. now with my own band until I fly to the U.S. to rejoin E.C.for the U.S. dates where I’m looking forward to hooking up with my old pals Henry, Bronzey and Fairweather.”

Carrack’s most recent album, Rain or Shine, was released in the US on March 25th. The first single, “Life’s Too Short” has been in heavy rotation on BBC Radio 2 for the last few weeks and the new single “I’m Losing You” has just been confirmed on the BBC’s A List. Carrack was also the subject of a 2013 BBC4 television documentary, The Man With The Golden Voice
