The Paperhead’s Trouble In Mind Out November 11th
The Paperhead is Releasing a Brand New Album Via Trouble in Mind on November 11th! Have You Heard it Yet?
The Paperhead was formed in 2009 by three childhood friends (Ryan Jennings, Walker Mimms & Peter Stringer-Hye.)
Africa Avenue is the new album, named after the street the band hung-out on as children, and was written and recorded by the group themselves in early 2014 in bassist Stringer-Hye’s garage. Still taking inspiration from the psychedelic era, Africa Avenue finds the band expanding their musical palette, incorporating elements of avant-pop, “cosmic country”, acid folk, and krautrock into the mix, making this album their most focused & original set of tunes to date.
Here’s what people are saying:
“It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Nashville’s The Paperhead — 2012, when they released their terrific single “The Picture of Her Demise” — but the band have plotted their return. The trio still worship at the alter of Syd Barrett and Pete Townshend (circa 1966).” – BROOKLYN VEGAN
“Most bands trying to do the whole ’60s psych pop revival will lean on rote tricks like lo-fi vocals, organ-infused jams, and sunshine-dripping lyrics, but the Paperhead’s crisp, focused tones make the nostalgia grab somehow seem fresh.” – NERVE
“Sure their sound could very well accompany Peter Fonda in Easy Rider, but they remember to throw a bone to today’s jaded music snobs.” – ELMORE MAGAZINE
“Africa Avenue is a warm-sounding and inviting set of tunes.”
– STYROFOAM DRONE.
“Their sound is a groovy throwback—one that will make you want to revisit The Beatles’ vibiest albums. While their self-titled 2011 album explored growing up and moving on, the quartet are entering a brand new chapter with Africa Avenue—named after a street the boys used to hang out on as kids—which is straight up acid-folk perfection. ” – NOISEY
