OMNI Magazine Presents Music And Art Exhibition

APRIL 11th-12th

RETROSPECTIVE EXHIBITION PAIRS ORIGINAL ARTWORK AND FILM WITH SPECIAL COMPOSED MUSIC BY PRODUCER KING BRITT

SPECIAL CONVERSATION HOSTED BY OMNI REBOOT EDITOR IN CHIEF CLAIR EVANS AT RED BULL STUDIOS NEW YORK

(New York, NY) April 7th – DJ/Producer King Britt and Editor-in-Chief of Omni Reboot, Claire Evans, announce their upcoming exhibition “OmniPresent: A Different View” which opens on April 11th and 12th at the multidisciplinary project space, Red Bull Studios New York. The exhibition, a retrospective of Omni Magazine, will examine the publication’s impact on the Afrofuturism movement and culture at large. Omnipresent will feature rare framed art, iconic and unreleased images as well as original compositions by King Britt, whose work is heavily influenced by the 70’s publication.

“As an Afrofuturist, I have always looked toward all things sci-fi, as a form of escapism… Omni showed the future now, it was where fantasy and science intersect, where the worlds we dream about become reality.” – King Britt.

Omni magazine blended science, science fiction, flashy graphic design, and a gonzo editorial eye into one beautiful package. Omni regularly featured extensive Q&As with some of the top scientists of the 20th century–E.O. Wilson, Francis Crick, Jonas Salk–tales of the paranormal, and some of the most important science fiction to ever see magazine publication. It’s masthead, peppered with names like Carl Sagan and Arthur C. Clarke, read more like Playboy than National Geographic.

In the words of Ben Bova, the six-time Hugo award-winner, “Omni is not a science magazine, but a magazine about the future.”

OmniPresent, which serves as a prelude to King Britt’s MoMA PS1 expose on Afrofuturism, will examine the historical significance, impact and appeal of Omni Magazine through lectures, visuals and music on April 11th and 12th at Red Bull Studios New York.
