Mike Ragogna: Norman, owning what is arguably the biggest jazz label in the world, what advice do you have for new artists?

Norman Lear: My advice for new artists is to continue to believe in yourself. Don’t let anybody turn you away from your basics and your instincts.

MR: Is that what you did as a young writer coming up in television?

NL: I think so. I can’t remember doing anything I didn’t really want to do.
