SHARES RETROSPECTIVE N.O.W. IS THE TIME : THE DOCUMENTARY BEST-OF COMPILATION N.O.W. IS THE TIME OUT JUNE 17 VIA WARP RECORDS WATCH N.O.W. IS THE TIME: THE DOCUMENTARY HERE Nightmares on Wax, one of Warp Records‘ initial signings, is releasing the N.O.W. Is The Time compilation in celebration of his 25-year career, which falls in tandem with Warp’s own 25th anniversary this year. In anticipation of the release, Nightmares on Wax is now sharing N.O.W. Is The Time: The Documentary, a retrospective portrayal of the career of Nightmares on Wax (George Evelyn). The documentary, which was directed by Rollo Jackson, premiered via Complex, who called it “further proof of the impact of the tenured producer.” Additionally, HipHopDX is also celebrating Nightmares on Wax’s storied career with an exclusive free download of “Keep On (86 In It Mix) ft. De La Soul.” “The real heartwarming sort of thing about doing this project, and celebrating this project, is that everybody I asked to do a remix was honoured to do it. This is what this has been about is really, really getting back to why you even make music, what is this relationship to music. Because it is fun and I love it. Full Stop.” – George Evelyn (Nightmares on Wax) The Nightmares on Wax story is one that spans decades and genres. Evelyn (also known as DJ E.A.S.E) came up in the 80s UK B-Boy and graffiti scene enamored with New York hip-hop and was an innovator in merging those sounds and feelings with the popular sounds of the UK at that time to pioneer what became dubbed “trip-hop.” Releasing classic albums such as Smokers Delight and Carboot Soul and working with the likes of De La Soul and Roots Manuva established NOW as one of the definitive purveyors of hip-hop, funk, dub and soul. 25 years on, his fanbase is still growing. To ring in the release and the quarter-centennial celebration, Nightmares on Wax will head out on his largest US tour ever beginning in Seattle, WA at Neumos on June 18 and ending in Miami, FL at Grand Central on July 21.
