Morning Parade’s “Reality Dream” Debuts

MORNING PARADE

Premiere “Reality Dream” Video on Idolator
Follow-up to Smash Single “Alienation”

UK’s much-adored MORNING PARADE has launched its next onslaught into the music world with the release of its next single “Reality Dream,” the video for which premieres exclusively today on Idolator. Of the video, vocalist/guitarist Steve Sparrow told editor Robbie Daw, “It was a concept devised by the director, James Rhodes, who we’d worked with previously on some acoustic versions of songs from Pure Adulterated Joy.”

A virtual continuous stream of thought, the song details an unlatching from negativity and finding things instead to make you not “unhappy”. Sparrow sings, “No more someday, no lottery or fame, no more fake smiling, no more flat champagne, no more thinking ‘I won a race I wish I’d lost’,” signaling a cathartic unleashing the anchors that drag you down. Blending the softer elements of Sparrow’s acoustic guitar, with an overall gritty, alternative sound, the video presents the band flooded with white light, working its way through the aggressively building single, through (as pointed out by SPIN), “anthemic rock choruses, some electronic flourishes, and a bit of hostility towards reality TV.”

“Reality Dream” extends the momentum that Morning Parade has already begun to build. The May 2014 of release of the full-length Pure Adulterated Joy found the band on the Billboard Heatseekers Top 10 charts, driving the album’s lead single to sell more than 500,000 copies. The band has toured extensively, sharing the stage with Smashing Pumpkins, 30 Seconds to Mars, Biffy Clyro and Silversun Pickups. The media overwhelmingly hailed the album as “a perfect equilibrium between carefree songs that appeal to the masses and serious ones about real-world issues with empowering musicianship” (Pop’stache), “the ultimate road trip summer soundtrack” (Earmilk), and even “Their second album focuses on euphoria and hope – ‘Shake The Cage’ wrings broad grins out of its opening furrowed brow of a riff, and ‘Seasick’ drives determinedly into the heart of a carefully constructed sonic storm before breaking through to the clear air beyond. Their sense of ambition is invigorating” (NME).

Morning Parade is Steve Sparrow (lead vocals, piano, guitar), Phil Titus (bass), Chad Thomas (guitar), Ben Giddings (piano, synths), and Andrew Hayes (drums). Pure Adulterated Joy was released on So Recordings/Caroline on May 6, 2014.
