U.S. DJ DATES CONFIRMED FOR MAY 13 AT SOUND IN LOS ANGELESAND MAY 16 AT SLAKE IN NEW YORK CITY

Leading up to the release of their new album London Road (Max Records/INgrooves) on May 26, MODESTEP have released their Machines EP featuring two killer remixes of band’s lead single from Mefjus and Tru Fonix, exclusively on Beatport. Perforated with mechanised samples, warped synths and the heavy bass that electronic fusion act MODESTEP brothers Josh (vocals, keyboards) and Tony Friend (DJ, guitar), Pat Lundy (drums) and Kyle Deek (lead guitar)–have made their own, “Machines” proves that the U.K. band is not content to stay within the fold. By seamlessly melding rock with electro influences MODESTEP have crafted their own sound that defies definition by genre and “Machines” is just a taste of what’s to come from the group this year.

Austrian drum & bass powerhouse Mefjus and English bass duo Tru Fonix are on remix duties for the single and true to form, both have created dark and driving takes on the original. Mefjus take is faster and harder with shattering bass, while Tru Fonix lend a grimy, warped bounce. Wrote  Clayton Warwick from The Music Ninja (4/20/15) of the Tru Fonix remix, “ Putting their spin on ‘Machines,’ which is coming up on Modestep’s brand new London Road album, these two welcome us into an industrial, bass-heavy soundscape, complete with robotic, mechanical synths, and light, accentuating percussion. The vocal samples are crafted perfectly, adding to the enveloping and decadent experience.”

This summer, the band will hit the road for an extensive run of high-profile festival dates to support London Road including slots at Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park in Germany, Download, Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds in the U.K. and Summer Sonic in Japan. Before then, MODESTEP’s Josh and Tony Friend will travel to the U.S. for DJ shows at Sound in Los Angeles May 13 and Slake in New York City May 16

About Modestep:

London Road, the new album from Modestep due out May 26, say brothers Josh and Tony Friend, is the real deal, an accurate representation of the four-piece they’ve become, and a passionate tribute to their home city.  The success of Modstep’s debut album ‘Evolution Theory’ launched them into the A League after dabbling in music their whole lives. Tony came more from the DJ side of things, getting his first decks aged 13, while Josh was into practicing the musical aspect, learning piano from age ten and in bands forever. Just before things kicked off Josh worked in the Apple Store and Tony was at university   Indeed their debut show was at the Download Festival. They’ve developed a fierce live reputation since evolving into an four –piece outfit who punch hard but also have versatility. They can fit on a bill at Reading, Ultra, Download or Coachella but are equally at home beside electronic names they were listening to in the run-up to the album  – Noisia, Squarepusher, Black Sun Empire, Neosignal, Nero, Justice, Amon Tobin and the like. And they can’t wait to take it back onto the stage, to globally show off an album they’re immensely proud of.  Modestep are back, they’re loud and they’re filled with fire. Watch out, world.
