MODOC To Perform At Austin City Limits Music Festival
Band Joins Eminem, Pearl Jam, Outkast, Beck and More
Nashville, TN May 6, 2014 — Nashville-based rock band MODOC will join previously announced artists Eminem, Pearl Jam, Lorde, Foster the People and Outkast as part of this year’s Austin City Limits Music Festival. The two-weekend event (Oct 3-5 and 10-12) takes place on 46 acres in Zilker Park and features more than 130 artists from around the world. Festival promoters will release specific performance dates and times at a later date. For more information on the event, visit aclfestival.com.
Since the release of their self-titled CD in late 2013, MODOC has been getting all of the right kind of attention. Earlier this year, they were selected by Fox Sports to be featured in the network’s popular Band of the Month, series. ABC music supervisors placed the new CD’s track, “Devil On My Shoulder” behind fall promos for the show 666 Park Avenue. This year, CBS followed suit, using “Devil” in its show Reckless.
MODOC are convincing torchbearers for rock music for several reasons, chief among them that Clint Culberson (lead vocals), John Carlson (drums/vocals) and Kyle Addison (lead guitar/vocals) have played together in one form or another since attending the same Indiana college. After a stint playing as sidemen for a local musician, the three set their collective sights outside the Midwest, leaving behind their friends and families to join the resurgent rock scene in Nashville, where in recent years Jack White, The Black Keys, Kings of Leon, Jeff the Brotherhood, Paramore, Autovaughn and others have infused the city with a vivid and edgier energy.
Just a few years into their increasingly buzzed-about run, MODOC now have the sort of momentum that should make the next few years exhilarating for band and fan alike. Culberson, Carlson, and Addison are already demoing material for the MODOC follow-up, and have confirmed performances at Summerfest, Bunbury and more for 2014. The band is also seeing growth outside the U.S. in far flung locales like Brazil, Argentina, Italy, Spain, Germany and Australia, proof that if you are true to rock, your audience will find you.
