“…weaves together the late-night moodiness of vintage trip-hop, the booming sounds of contemporary alt-R&B, and some of the raw emotional charge of classic PJ Harvey.” – Entertainment Weekly

“glides on a bed of smooth synths and skittering percussive touches” Pitchfork

Following the success of her debut EP Chest Of Hearts, Puerto-Rican singer-songwriter Angelica Allen returns to bring to life melodies both foreboding and victorious with the announcement of two new EPs. Allen watches her project My Midnight Heart tint the skies in brilliant shades of grey, taking a turn with her latest work to a darker and more contemplative side. My Midnight Heart begins her flood of new singles this month with 2 short EPs via MNRCH- with Drown out now, followed by Break, out 2/17.

My Midnight Heart’s first new offering and EP title track “Drown” drew fans old and new with her buoyant yet aggressive lead vocals combining with oceanic synth tones for a watery and flowing aesthetic. The track was featured NPR All Songs Considered this week and the mysterious and sultry chanteuse has revealed the breath-taking track’s visual counterpart. Using a combination of hand-drawn animation, live action and visual effects, director Jake Nelson utilized the variety of mediums to reflect Angelica’s subconscious thoughts and fears through the teardrops of her siren song.

Angelica Allen cuts the unexpected cadences of My Midnight Heart’s futuristic pop sensibilities with surrealism that speaks to the subconscious. With the power of her vocals and lyrics, and her producer’s instinct, Allen aims to bring to life powerful sonic atmospheres. Having shared stages with Solange, Blood Orange and Nick Waterhouse, My Midnight Heart recently opened for a leg of Tegan and Sara’s national tour this past summer.
