Midge Ure’s Fragile Out August 18th
Midge Ure to release ‘Fragile’ August 18th via eOne Music
N. American ‘Retro Futura’ Tour in August/September
Grammy and Brit Award winning musician Midge Ure, OBE (Officer of the British Empire – awarded in 2005) is set to release his first new album in over a decade entitled Fragile, via eOne Music. The album, containing ten tracks takes from the various influences spanning Midge’s vast career from his accomplished guitar work (Rich Kids, Thin Lizzy) to the synth sounds and technology he has utilized since the late 70’s to today (Visage, Ultravox.) The album was recorded almost in its entiretly in Midge’s studio in Bath, England with Midge at the helm, playing, arranging, producing and engineering, a true ‘solo album.’
An album of beautifully crafted, atmospheric music from a skilled songwriter, ‘Become’ (which is presently in heavy rotation on BBC Radio) and ‘Dark, Dark Night’ (a collaboration with Moby), shows more than a passing nod to his electronic roots, all the way to the heady, cinematic soundscape of ‘Fragile’ or ‘Star Crossed’, which could almost be called contemporary prog-rock all blend comfortably on this collection of songs.
“Fragile’ is quite possibly the most intimate and honest album I have ever released. Its the kind of work you can only do after a lifetime making music.” Midge Ure.
