Mike Ragogna: What advice do you have for those new artists?
Mac McAnally: Don’t be so concerned with fitting in with what’s happening right now. That’s a legitimate concern, but don’t overly concern yourself with it. Good work is good work, and time ticks every day. I have people who come up and say, “I spent all this work trying to sound like this that was out last year and now I’ve got it out and this thing’s not there anymore.” You should base what you’re doing on something that’s going to be around longer than a weekly calendar. The charts are different every week and good work is always good work. Do good work and the urgency of things will take care of itself.
