Lia’s “Higher” Video Unveiled

LIA ICES REVEALS VIDEO FOR “HIGHER”

NEW HEADLINING DATES CONFIRMED INCLUDING MERCURY LOUNGE IN NYC ON SEPTEMBER 17

Set To Support Phantogram In September & October

NEW ALBUM ICES OUT SEPTEMBER 16 VIA JAGJAGUWAR

Lia Ices is excited to reveal the video for her newest single ‘Higher.” The video premiered via Paper who described it saying “(‘Higher’) features kaleidoscopic visions of the artist and her brother as they explore Jamaica.” They went on to describe her upcoming album as “a wide variety of instrumentals, experimentation and people together; it takes the listener from north of New York City to San Francisco and Jamaica with a constant sense of levity, expressed both in the lyrics and lofty sounds.” Paper spoke to Lia about her album and the single.

“Higher” was shot in Jamaica by Storm Saulter with additional camera work by Bryan Ling and Andrew Mariani. Ices herself directed the video. Lia says, “The making of this album continuously took us out of our familiar world. During our time in jamaica we found a levity and openness we tapped into – an energy that is at the core of the song, and of this whole album. We met the Jamaican film maker Storm Saulter and spent a couple days cruising/exploring with him and making this video. We just had fun. When you can be limitless with your experiences, give into other cultures, sounds, and people, the more you actually feel like yourself.”

Stereogum has called “Higher” an “experimental pop number with lots of empty space but plenty going on…this (is a) weird, wonderful song” and
Consequence of Sound labeled it “an ethereal earworm” and continued “the pop number’s worth a spot on your ‘Songs of Summer’ playlist.”

Ices previously announced she will be supporting Phantogram on their fall tour of the U.S. She has now also confirmed headlining dates in New York (9/17),
Los Angeles (9/23) and San Francisco (9/24). Her tour with Phantogram follows these dates. All shows are listed below.

Lia Ices will be releasing her new album Ices on September 16 via Jagjaguwar. The album was co-produced by Benny Sagittarius (the newly formed production team of Lia and her brother Eliot) and Clams Casino. You can watch an album trailer for Ices here.

Previous to “Higher” Lia Ices released a video for the single “Thousand Eyes” which you can watch here. Pretty Much Amazing reviewed the single saying, “‘Thousand Eyes’ (is an) effortless and lovely weirdo pop tailor-made for summer afternoons and evenings, figuring Lia’s otherworldly, Kate Bush-ian vocals front and center over a bubbly guitar line and soaring synth drones.”

“(Lia has an) impressively supple voice, which can spiral up into a giddy falsetto and fall crashing to the floor in dolorous rumination within a heartbeat”
