Kongos To Tour North America January 2015
KONGOS ANNOUNCE 2015 “LUNATIC” NORTH AMERICAN
HEADLINE TOUR DATES
KONGOS will embark on a North American headline tour this coming January
Following up highly successful stints on the road in the U.S. with Kings of Leon, Young The Giant and Alice In Chains and in Europe with OneRepublic, this is the platinum-selling quartet’s very first countrywide headline run of the United States. The Lunatic Tour begins on January 29 at Gas Monkey in Dallas, TX and goes through March 13 at The Wiltern in Los Angeles, CA. Support comes from indie rock outfits Sir Sly and Colony House on most dates. Venue presales go live November 4, VIP Packages that include a backstage acoustic performance, meet n greet with the band, photo op with the band and more go on sale November 5 and the general on-sale is November 7. A complete list of tour dates and VIP packages can be found on the band’s website www.kongos.com.
2015 also sees KONGOS infiltrate radio with their next single, “I Want To Know.” Coming on the heels of their current alternative hit “I’m Only Joking,” it’s yet another standout from the South African-born and Arizona-based band’s critically acclaimed full-length debut, Lunatic [Epic Records].
The ubiquitous and inescapable anthem “Come With Me Now” has solidified KONGOS as one of rock ‘n’ roll’s most exciting and enigmatic new acts. Reaching platinum status, the single soared to #1 at Alternative Radio and stayed there for five weeks, marking the quickest ascent to the top by a new band in history. Moreover, it seized #13 at Top 40 and #17 at Hot AC. It’s also received countless high-profile placements including The Expendables 3, Ram Trucks, Samsung Galaxy, American Idol, The Originals, MTV Movie Awards, HBO, FX, CNN, NBC Sports, ESPN, NFL, WWE, Playstation 4 and more. The video has been viewed nearly 20 million times: http://youtu.be/Gz2GVlQkn4Q.
Already heralded by Rolling Stone as one of 10 New Artists You Need To Know and by USA Today as an artist “On The Verge,” KONGOS spent May as VH1’s “You Oughta Know” artist for the month. They’ve also performed on Late Night With Seth Meyers, Jimmy Kimmel LIVE!, and The Today Show.
KONGOS, who are the sons to popular ’70s South African/British singer-songwriter John Kongos recently hit huge on South African airwaves, thanks to a slew of radio hits off Lunatic and extensive touring across the country. The brothers are multi-instrumentalists, with Dylan and Jesse handling vocals live and playing bass and drums respectively onstage. Eldest brother Johnny plays accordion and piano, while Danny is on slide and regular guitar .
