Kongos Hits With “Come With Me Now,” New Single Soon

“Come With Me Now”, the breakthrough single from South African brothers KONGOS, has just been certified Gold by the RIAA for digital sales in excess of 500,000.  This marks the Arizona-based quartet’s very first Gold plaque in the United States and another momentous achievement for them this year.

“Come With Me Now” is the first single from the group’s latest album Lunatic (Epic Records).  The song clinched the #1 spot at Alternative Radio for five weeks and enjoyed the quickest ascent to the top of the chart by a new band ever.  It is currently #2 at AAA radio and is soaring up the Top 40 charts as well, where it rose to #18 last week.  The song is also starting to buzz internationally.  It hit #1 at modern rock radio and has been certified platinum in Canada while also reaching #1 on the Colombian rock charts.  BBC1 in the UK also played the track after the band did their first promotional tour there.

Following a string of high-profile television placements including American Idol, FX, CNN, NBC Sports, ESPN, NFL, WWE, Playstation 4 and more, “Come With Me Now” has become “one of the most synced songs of the year”.  Ram Trucks is now utilizing the instantly recognizable anthem to fuel its latest commercial. Coming in hot on the heels of “Come With Me Now”, Lunatic’s next single “I’m Only Joking” starts impacting Alternative radio on June 30.

Meanwhile on July 31st, the boys embark on the 2014 Mechanical Bull tour, supporting Kings of Leon.  They played major festivals Sasquatch and Firefly and will appear at  Lollapalooza and ACL as well. Already heralded by Rolling Stone as one of 10 New Artists You Need To Know and by USA Today as an artist “On The Verge,” KONGOS recently spent May as VH1’s “You Oughta Know” artist for the month.  The band has performed “Come With Me Now” on Late Night With Seth Meyers and have made their U.S. TV debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

KONGOS, who are the sons to popular ’70s South African/British singer-songwriter John Kongos recently hit huge on South African airwaves, thanks to a slew of radio hits off Lunatic and extensive touring across the country.  The brothers are multi-instrumentalists, with Dylan and Jesse handling vocals live and playing bass and drums respectively onstage.  Eldest brother Johnny plays accordion and piano, while Danny is on slide and regular guitar .
