Nominated For ‘Musical Event of the Year’
Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton received their first joint CMA Award nomination since 1986 this morning for “You Can’t Make Old Friends” in the Musical Event of the Year category. The song is featured on Rogers’ latest album of the same name as well as Dolly’s latest album Blue Smoke.
The nomination is the fifth overall for Kenny & Dolly as a duo at the CMA Awards. They were previously nominated for Single Of The Year: “Islands In The Stream” and Vocal Duo Of The Year in 1984, along with nominations for Vocal Duo Of The Year in 1985 & 1986.
“Whether we win or not, it was an event for me being back together with my good friend, Dolly Parton,” Rogers remarked. “I have great respect for everyone in this category and there’s no way you can lose being in that group.”
“I’m so honored to be nominated for CMA Musical Event of the Year with one of my absolute best friends, Kenny Rogers!,” says Parton. “It really is true that ‘You Can’t Make Old Friends’.”
The 48th Annual CMA Awards airs live Wednesday, November 5 at 8/7c on ABC-TV.
