Kele’s Trick Debuts October 14th
KELE DEBUTS NEW SONG “COASTING” VIA CONSEQUENCE OF SOUND
TAKEN FROM NEW LP TRICK, SET FOR RELEASE OCTOBER 14TH ON LILAC RECORDS
Today Kele – best known for his work as the front man of acclaimed rock band Bloc Party – debuts a new song entitled “Coasting” off of his sophomore solo album Trick (out October 14th on Lilac Records via Kobalt Label Services). The electronic track, featuring Kele’s soaring falsetto over muffled drums, is another glimpse into the dark and sensual world of Trick which explores both the intimacy and the loneliness of the dance floor at night. “’Coasting’ is one of the tracks I’m most proud of on the record,” says Kele. “It’s the story about the first moments of a relationship, when there is no pressure and no demands. I love how the track glides along.”
Following his solo effort, The Boxer, Kele takes further detours into the dance world with Trick, creating a charged, nocturnal atmosphere where everything and anything could happen. Drawing upon an extensive period of DJ sets all over the world, not to mention stints producing his own electronic music, Kele provides a tantalizing peek into the after-hours mischief with his sophomore solo record. Trick is a different, sleeker beast than The Boxer, with a newfound emphasis on Kele’s soulful vocals, which grew and changed during the course of recording the album in London and New York. Framing his intensely personal songwriting within the context of dance culture, Trick is a record which boldly stands at the crossroads of club history, old school soul and modern electronic R&B, with a distinctively British twist.
