Karen O’s Live From Crush Palace Gets Spotified
Karen O’s Live From Crush Palace is out today exclusively on Spotify, listen to it here. The collection features O performing tracks from her solo album Crush Songs, out last year on Cult Records, along with O favorites “Hideaway” from Where The Wild Things Are and the Oscar- and Grammy-nominated “The Moon Song” from Her. To date, Crush Songs has been streamed more than 3.5 million times on Spotify. Live From Crush Palace was recorded at O’s three sold-out nights at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery’s Masonic Lodge in Los Angeles. The release marks the first time fans will be able to hear the songs live outside of O’s string of dates in intimate, handpicked venues in New York, London and Berlin, as well as Los Angeles. Joined by guitarists Moses Sumney and Holly Miranda at the dates, O also played host to special guests including Yeah Yeah Yeahs bandmate Nick Zinner, Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig, Liars’ Julian Gross and more. Crush Songs is available on CD, LP, download and cassette here. CD and LP versions feature O’s personal artwork and handwritten lyrics for each track. Additionally, O’s limited Valentine’s Day vinyl 7” edition of “Rapt” is out today via Cult Records. The release will be issued on etched pink vinyl featuring O’s personal drawings and artwork as well as an embossed, die-cut heart with customizable card insert for fans to dedicate the record to their sweetheart. TRZTN’s remix of “Rapt,” featured on the release’s B-side, is premiering today on Nylon, listen here and buy the 7” via local independent records stores here. A short film for Crush Songs track “Day Go By” recently premiered on Vogue.com. Watch the clip, which Vogue says “will make you swoon” here and watch a preview clip of the vinyl here. Furthermore, “The Moon Song,” O’s contribution to the soundtrack for Spike Jonze’s critically acclaimed film Her, was recently nominated for a Grammy for “Best Song for Visual Media.” The Grammy nod follows an Academy Award nomination for “Best Original Song” and a performance of “The Moon Song” at the 2014 Oscars with Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig. Karen O is the frontwoman of Yeah Yeah Yeahs. In addition to Karen’s recent Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song for “The Moon Song,” Yeah Yeah Yeahs have been nominated for three Grammy awards. The band has released four studio albums—2003’s Fever to Tell, 2006’s Show Your Bones, 2009’s It’s Blitz and 2013’s Mosquito—to incredible critical acclaim and has played countless festivals including Glastonbury, Coachella, Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo and curated its own All Tomorrow’s Parties.
