Jukebox The Ghost Expands Debut With Improv

Jukebox the Ghost Rereleases Self-Titled Album Featuring Bonus Disc of Improvised Piano Arrangements via Cherrytree Records

Band Announces Summer Amphitheater Tour with Ingrid Michaelson

Brooklyn trio Jukebox the Ghost surprised fans this month with the rerelease of their self-titled LP which included a bonus disc of pianist and lead vocalist Ben Thornewill’s reimagining of the songs as improvised piano arrangements. The rerelease celebrates the band’s signing to Cherrytree Records and marks Jukebox the Ghost’s first release on the label. Additionally, the band is pleased to announce that they’ll be joining Ingrid Michaelson all summer on her A Summer Night Out with Ingrid Michaelson Tour. Kicking off this June, the tour hits a number of prestigious venues across the country like LA’s Greek Theater, NYC’s SummerStage at Central Park, and the Chicago Theater. Jukebox the Ghost will also be making a handful of festival appearances this summer at Shaky Knees Festival, Pinelands Music Festival, and more.

Thornewill, who is classically trained, wanted to create something special for their new label and also present new imaginings of the songs to their fans. Ambitiously, he set to the task of recording all 11 songs from the original record, plus one final track in which he attempts to play the entire record straight though. Jukebox the Ghost was originally released in October 2014 and quickly gained favor in critical circles, with The Wall Street Journal heralding it as “…a bold, bright album full of pop hooks.” With the release, the band scored the best sales week of their career and earned the attention of Cherrytree Records, who would sign them shortly after the album’s release.

The summer tour with Ingrid Michaelson follows Jukebox the Ghost’s biggest and most successful headlining run to date, which included sold out shows across the country (notably, NYC’s Irving Plaza and LA’s El Rey). In the midst of the tour, the band returned to Late Night TV to play their most recent single “Postcard” on CONAN. They wrapped the tour with a special appearance at Cherrytree 10 in New York City, which celebrated Cherrytree’s 10 year anniversary with a wealth of artists Martin Kierszenbaum has signed over the years. Following tour, the band performed as stripped down version of “Postcard” on VH1’s Big Morning Buzz before heading down to play at this year’s SXSW festival. This month, Jukebox the Ghost filmed an official music video for “Postcard” which is due to be released soon.

Jukebox the Ghost (Cherrytree Deluxe Edition) is available on all DSPs now. For full list of confirmed tour dates for Jukebox the Ghost, see below and for the most up to date information, please visit www.jukeboxtheghost.com.
