Judah & the Lion Announce Debut Album – Kids These Days – due out September 9th via Nashville’s Good Time Records

Nashville based trio Judah & the Lion is thrilled to announce the September 9th release of their debut full-length studio album Kids These Days via Good Time Records. The album was recorded in Nashville this past March with the incredibly talented Dave Cobb (Jason Isbell, Sturgill Simpson) producing and they enlisted Pete Lyman (Best Coast, Jason Isbell, Ben Harper) to master. The result is 11 honest heartfelt songs that capture the passion and youthful spirit of the three founding members – Judah Akers, Brian Macdonald and Nate Zuercher.

Judah & the Lion originally came to be in 2011. The three members met through mutual friends when Judah – guitar, lead vocals – was looking for a banjo player to write music with him. He was introduced to Nate who plays banjo and Brian who plays mandolin and the three hit it off immediately. While coming from somewhat different backgrounds mostly thanks to geography – Judah is from Tennessee, Nate is from Colorado and Brian is from Illinois – the three discovered that they not only shared a love of music but also shared similar values and belief systems which made their initial bond even stronger. They released a pair of EPs – First Fruit in 2012 and Sweet Tennessee in April 2013. Sweet Tennessee surprised the boys when it landed on several Billboard album charts – No. 2 on the “Bluegrass,” No. 9 on “Heatseekers” and No. 15 on “Folk” – thanks largely in part to a couple of extremely successful campaigns on Noisetrade.

Touring immediately followed, with Judah & the Lion playing a number of sold out and very successful headlining shows in Nashville. Kicking things off that April with a Belmont University show that drew more than 3,000 people, they went on to sell out 12th & Porter on April 30th, 2013. This past April, a mere year later, they found themselves selling out Nashville’s Mercy Lounge and other notable hometown shows include September 2013’s Americana Music Festival and October 2013’s Musicians Corner concert in Centennial Park. They also managed to make their way up to the 40 Watt Club in Athens, GA a couple of times where they sold out both shows without ever having played in the market before.

This past spring Judah & the Lion ventured well past Tennessee and Georgia when they hit the road with Andrew Ripp for nearly a month playing Minneapolis’ 7th Street Entry, Lincoln Hall in Chicago, Webster Hall in NYC and the House of Blues in Dallas among others and followed that with some Drew Holcomb & the Neighbors dates. The band will embark on their first official national headlining tour this fall following the September 9th release of Kids These Days.
